The Venetian Castle can be found on the second-highest peak in Milo and it dates back to the 13th century. The castle serves as a safe refuge from the pirate attacks. Although there are not many things left at the castle nowadays, it is a great place to enjoy the panoramic scenery of the whole island. As you are climbing to the castle, you are going to pass two stunning whitewashed churches of Panagia Skiniotissa and Panagia Thalassitra. Explore Milos Archaeological Museum

Milos is a crucial harbor in the Aegean Sea from the 3rd millennium till the 12 century BC. At the end of the 19th century many outstanding early Cycladic, Minoan, and Mycenaean artifacts were discovered during excavations. You are going to find most of the artifacts in the archaeological museum. In the museum, you are going to find patterned pottery, bathtub, figurines, and a shrine from the 14th century BC. The entrance hall houses a copy of the Venus de Milo which is the burial jar from the 6th century BC and the obsidian tools that are made on the island. You should also make sure you do not miss Rooms 3 and 4 where you will find Geometric, Classic, Archaic, Hellenistic, and Roman period finds such as tools, tomb reliefs, statues, coins and tables with Melian alphabet.

How to Reach Milos Greece

Travelers can reach Milos using ferries that connect it to almost all of the other islands in the Cyclades. There is a small airport located in the center it that is operational only for domestic flights and is not capable to entertain international flights. Flights can also be taken to it from other islands.
