Nafplio city in Greece
Nafplio (Nauplio or Nauplion in Italian) is one of the most beautiful seaport towns in the area of Argolis in eastern Peloponnese, Greece. It is the first capital of Greece. Nafplio is usually dubbed as the most romantic city of Greece as it offers a romantic gateway from Athens.
According to mythology, Nafplio city is named on the son of god Poseidon, Nafplio.

Important places in Nafplio:
Palamidi Castle stands 216 m above sea level. In order to reach it, you have to climb the steps fewer than traditional 999 steps. But after so much effort to reach the top the stunning view from above yields the reward. It is the place where the famous hero of the Greek Revolution Theodore Kolokotronis had been imprisoned. The site is now in ruins but still worth seeing. Agios Andreas battlement is also built at the top of the Castle.
The Bourtzi is the Venetian small fortress located on the tiny rocky island of Agioi. It was built by Venetians in the 15th century and used as a prison but now it is the most photographed spot of Nafplio. It is used to host events and concerts in the summer.
Akronafplia is an ancient rock at the top of the old town at Palamidi hill. It is one of the oldest castles built in the Bronze age, there are still remains of old walls in the western part of the castle. The castle is being renovated from last few years.
