Andros is the northernmost island of the Cyclades which offers tourists mind-blowing natural scenery, picturesque village, and the stunning beaches.

The island is not far from Athens(1 to 2 hours depending on the ferry that you are going to take) which makes it a great weekend destination from Athens. The highlight of the village is Chora which offers a wide range of activities that you can try out such as the Museum of Modern Art.

Some of the other sights that you can explore are monasteries, ancient sites, and chapels. You can also access them through a jeep safari or hiking paths. Another thrilling activity to try out is windsurfing at Ornos beach.

Go sightseeing in the old town of Andros

The capital city of Andros is filled with a wide range of magnificent neoclassical mansions located on a narrow peninsula. One of the best things to do is to explore the marble pavements and stop for a coffee to enjoy the views. You are also going to find a museum of contemporary art with numerous shop that you can explore. You can then stroll to the end where you can go swimming and enjoy the lighthouse in the bay. The lighthouse was built in 1897 before it was demolished by a German bomb during the second world war, it was then rebuilt in 1995.

Explore Batsi

This is the major tourism base in Andros and it is filled with a wide range of hotels, restaurants and bars with a large beach located in the center. The town features all the luxuries that you will expect of a travel destination. During the summer, it has a vibrant and lively nightlife and lots of bars open till late in the evening. If you are planning to experience the lively nightlife, you can try out some of the local spirits like Raki.

Visit the Vitali Beach

This is a beach that is located in the northeast of the island and it is a great place to go for a beach holiday. The beach features crystal clear waters with a sheltered bay. The beach also houses its own Taverna cooking traditional food. You are going to find a diving rock at the left of the beach with numerous tiers that you can explore based on how adventurous you are. The road to the beach is a dirt track and winds which features mountain passes which offer panoramic scenery.

Enjoy mind-blowing sunset views over Evia

Euboea is the second-largest island in Greece and it is located not far from the Greek mainland. Andros island offers magnificent sunset views behind the mountains of Evia. The best time to come here is during the summer where you will enjoy enthralling views. The best place to go for the best sunset views is from the north-western side of Andros.

Go hiking at the diverse walking paths in Andros Island

The traditional donkey paths pass through the unspoilt and mesmerizing corner of the island and it has just been redeveloped. The path is awarded the Best in Europe, leading quality trails in 2011 and 2018 by the European Ramblers Society and it is now attracting walkers and hikers from all over the world. Before you go hiking here, you can pick a map of the different routes from Gavrio, Chora, or Batsi and then go hiking. The walking trail is a perfect way to enjoy the island and be mesmerized by its natural beauty.

Go sightseeing at the Cyclades Olive Museum

This museum can be found in Ano Pitrofos and it is awarded the sixth top Museum in all of Greece. Visiting this museum is a perfect way to get an insight into the history and techniques that were involved in the production of olive oil. You can go on a 90-minute tour of this museum where you will enjoy the passion and enthusiasm of the host. Olive oil is among the things that you must try in Andros and going on a tour of this museum will help you appreciate this mouth-watering ingredient.

Go hiking at the mountain of Andros Kouvara

This mountain stands at 990m above the sea level and a great spot to go for hiking enthusiasts. The best route that you can take to the top is to hike along the ridgeline from Vourkoti. If you are up for more adventure, you can take a steep hike which starts from Paleopoli and it offers the mind-blowing views of the island.
